Data used by the test
To operate and save test results, the service processes your public IP address, connection-related details, download speed, upload speed, response time, jitter and estimated request-failure rate. A public IP address can be personal data. This version does not request location or ISP details from an external IP-information provider.
Test transfers and saved results
The bandwidth test sends and receives sample data so it can estimate transfer rates. Uploaded test data is used for the measurement rather than saved as a user file. Measurement results and network-related details are saved in the application's database. Each saved result has a hard-to-guess unique link, which anyone holding the link may access; do not share a link if you do not want others to see its measurements.
External services
The website no longer sends the visitor IP to an IP-location lookup service. Google Analytics (measurement ID G-V112W2HG1G) is loaded on public pages and may collect technical usage data, subject to browser choices and applicable privacy requirements. Review the live analytics setup and applicable consent needs before production release.
Cookies and storage
The application may use session and security cookies to help protect its requests. The chosen light or dark theme is saved in this browser using localStorage (key: wifibandwidthtest-theme) so it persists after a refresh; this preference is not submitted to our server. Google Analytics may set measurement cookies or use similar technologies depending on browser settings and applicable controls.
Accuracy and data control
Internet speed results are estimates influenced by network and device conditions. Because the current site does not offer accounts or a self-service deletion interface, do not assume that closing the page deletes stored test results. This notice describes current application behavior; retention and deletion policies should be confirmed by the site operator before deployment in jurisdictions that require them.
