What we measure
The site downloads and uploads sample data to estimate throughput, and times small HTTP requests to estimate response time and variability. It then presents simple activity indicators for streaming and video calling. The test is a useful estimate, not a certification of your internet service or hardware.
How to get useful results
Use the same device when comparing networks, pause other bandwidth-heavy activities and repeat the test at different times. Our results guide explains the measurements, and the WiFi guide offers troubleshooting steps.
Privacy and transparency
Tests transfer data and may store diagnostic measurements and network-related information on the server. Read the privacy notice before using the service.
